How to Measure for Boots

where to measure

In order to take measurements you will want to be wearing your breeches (or whatever you'll usually be wearing with your boots) Then you'll want to sit with your foot flat on the floor.

We use three measurements - the
Calf, the Top and the Height.

The
Calf is measured around the widest part of your Calf.

The
Top is measured around your leg just below the knee.

The
Height is measured from the floor up the back of your leg to right behind your knee.

We put on a one inch heel, but that's not included in your measurements. You might also want to know that the boots will "drop" an inch or so once you start wearing them... the exact amount depends on the wearer and how they are worn.

Folks usually just use a regular cloth or plastic measuring tape to do these measurements, but if all you have is a ruler, you can improvise using a piece of yarn.... measuring your leg, then using the ruler to measure the yarn.

If you want to use a stock size and just make a minor adjustment to the height, for example, that's fine, too. Just go to the Semi-Custom page and specify what you'd like adjusted.
