Sizing is done while wearing breeches, slacks or whatever you plan to wear with your boots. There are three measurements to be taken for Nittany Boots, along with the Foot Size.
Since Nittany Boots are made using American Lasts (the last step in quality bootmaking where the upper is attached to the insoles) the Foot Size conforms to standard American sizing. What this means (in English) is that if you wear a size 9 shoe, you will wear a size 9 Nittany Boot.

The three other measurements are Top, Calf and Height. While wearing breeches (as discussed above) you will want to sit with your foot flat on the floor.

Top - This measurement is around the top of the boot, usually right below the knee

| Calf - Measure around the widest part of the calf |
| Height - The height is measured with your foot flat on the floor up the back of the leg to right behind your knee. The chart height does not include the one inch heel. It also does not allow for the "drop" in the height as you wear the boots. (This varies from rider to rider, and is usually around one inch) |
